Tippet Rise Art Center

Fishtail, MT

Between earth and sky near Fishtail, MT lies an unmistakable presence known as Tippet Rise Art Center.

The entire property is immersed in art. While the art varies in different forms of music, monumental sculpture and art and architecture the Center is known internationally for its human experience.

Tippet Rise presents performances by internationally acclaimed musicians during its annual summer concert season and while these musicians and other artists are on site for a duration of time, Tippet Rise provides accommodation. EIDEWEST Interiors was contacted to assist with interior finish selections along with furniture and accessories for the practice residences, practice facility and Cirrus building.

The Details

The Cirrus building houses administration, the mix-master’s-studio and an elaborate library that holds thousands of years of literature.

The practice facility is a separate building where musicians can practice their work before performances. This facility feels comfortable with a residential style and is equipped with a full kitchen for preparing meals and collaborating.

The practice residences were designed to accommodate four individuals or couples to stay while at Tippet Rise, each having their own private residence. The residences are outfitted with a primary ensuite along with a kitchenette and small living/dining space with residential comforts, each with their own character and selected color combos that portray the names of each residence. Moonbow displays blue and yellow accents taking cues from the foundation of a fabulous Turkish Kilim rug that sets the selections for the remainder of the space. And Glory which boasts gorgeous red tones with muted, neutral textures that provide a welcoming embrace. In the practice facility, we selected a Kilim rug by the name Piano, which was perfectly fitting to be placed under the Steinway & Sons piano.

Ending Note

Each time I visit the site, I have a sense of pride that is an equal reminder of just how blessed I am to have been involved with this project. Not only was this experience exciting and fulfilling, it was also educational for me.

While walking with a Tippet Rise staff member one day, he shared that his grandson had visited the site and proclaimed, ‘Grandpa, this place is magic!’ I agree, the sense of place at Tippet Rise Art Center is magic.
